Edguy es una banda de power metal originaria de Fulda, Alemania. Es considerada una de las mejores bandas de su género, y es influenciada principalmente por los también alemanes, Helloween. Su estilo actualmente es muy similar al de Scorpions

En 1992, en la pequeña ciudad de Fulda, en Hessen, Alemania cuatro estudiantes de bachillerato de apenas 14 años que se burlaban de su estirado profesor de Matemáticas, el Profesor Edgar Zimmerer, formaron su propia banda de Heavy Rock, sus nombres, Tobias Sammet en las voces, Jens Ludwig, Dirk Sauer y Dominik Storch.

Con toques de irreverencia poco particulares para su género, la banda se dirigió claramente a un sonido Power Metal europeo, con Tobias Sammet como creativo principal de la misma.

Decidieron llamar a la banda Edguy como epíteto del nombre de su profesor de matemáticas, Edgar

Después de dos demos, llamados "Evil Minded" y "Children Of Steel" ambos en 1994, obtuvieron un contrato discográfico con el sello AFM Records en 1995.
